Paddy Power have produced a video showcasing the Scottish attitude towards the England game

And a new advert from bookmakers Paddy Power has poked fun at the Scottish attitude towards their neighbours ahead of the big match.

The video opens with Scottish broadcaster and former international forward Alan Brazil with the caption ‘latino by name, latino by nature’, describing Spain’s football as ‘exciting’ and ‘dynamic’ and pretending to be a fan of the two-time European champions.

It then cuts to pundit and ex-Celtic and Aberdeen striker Charlie Nicholas with the caption ‘his friends call him Cava Charlie’, dressed as a matador and referencing Spanish culture.

The third Scotland legend to appear is former Clyde, Kilmarnock and Motherwell winger Pat Nevin with the caption ‘has the Eldorado boxset’, who is shown preparing tapas and waxing lyrical about Spanish food.

Several other gags are used throughout the video, such as Brazil going for a siesta, Nicholas sipping on a sangria and Nevin being shown putting tomato ketchup on his patatas bravas.

Brazil is accused of just not wanting England to win the final, to which he responds “Ay Caramba!”

Fans were quick to respond to the video, taking to X, formerly Twitter, to have their say.

One fan responded: “Quite possibly the best troll ever, Paddy Power promote the exec who conceived this.”

A Spanish supporter replied: “One of the funniest things I’ve seen through this 2024 European Championship. Scotland is with us! Oleee!”

A third commented: “Hilarious! Good honest banter for a great footballing rivalry. Love it!”

However, some English supporters didn’t see the funny side, and were quick to give their thoughts on their rivals’ support for the Spanish.

One said: “Such a pathetic inferiority complex.”

Another posted: “Hope the Scots get a good laugh for a couple of seconds while England play in a successive Euros final.”
