Scots ‘football widows’ have AFFAIRS because hubbies are glued to Euro 2024

SCOTTISH wives are slinking off for affairs in their droves – after being ‘benched’ by their hubbies who are glued to the Euros.

Despite Scotland going out in the group stage after getting just one point in three games, Tartan Army fans are still watching the competition in huge numbers.

Meanwhile the number of women logging on to married dating site IllicitEncounters.com – either as new or existing members – has rocketed 21 per cent since Scotland opened the tourney on June 14.

At the same time, the site has seen a corresponding dip in the number of fellas looking for a fling – as they are more bothered about the football than having an affair.

The study found that 76 per cent of the 1,000 women polled said they cannot stand the beautiful game.

And that bored wives were seeking pleasure in the arms of men who weren’t so footy-mad.

It found that 22 per cent of the 1,000 married blokes quizzed had watched every single Euro 2024 game on telly so far.

And 38 per cent said they watched at least 10 matches – leaving their partners ‘with time to spare’.

According to the data, married women from Glasgow and London were the most likely to seek an extra-marital fling.

There was a 42 per cent rise in females logging on to the site since the tournament kicked off.

Scottish cities are well represented in the ‘cheat league’ after the Tartan Army were sent packing after failing to qualify for the last 16.

Aberdeen found a 39 per cent rise, while those in Edinburgh and Dundee clocked in 29 and 22 per cent more respectively.

A spokesman for Illicit Encounters – which has more than 1.2m members in the UK – said it had seen a ‘wave of women’ logging on and signing up to the site since the Euros kicked off.

Jessica Leoni, of IllicitEncounters.com, said: “Football, for many men, becomes an all-consuming passion during these tournaments.

“So, with partners glued to the screen, many women have found themselves becoming football widows.

“And they are finding themselves with an unusual amount of free time.

“And as the saying goes, the devil finds work for idle hands.”

She added: “When intimacy and communication are benched, it creates a massive divide in relationships.”
