Retail gloom? Taylor Swift helps Edinburgh shops to shake it off

A rise in people shopping in Edinburgh has been attributed to the effect of the Taylor Swift concerts at Murrayfield

1. Scottish retail enjoyed a boost thanks to Taylor Swift’s Eras tour and the football Euros.
The Scottish Retail Consortium (SRC) said footfall increased by 0.2 per cent in June year-on-year, up from a drop of 5.4 per cent in May, described as significantly higher than the UK average decrease of 2.3 per cent.
Shopping centre footfall outperformed the national average, rising 1.2 per cent last month in Scotland, 3 percentage points better than the figures for May.
Retailers in Edinburgh experienced a 2.4 per cent increase, better than Glasgow at 2.2 per cent over the month, which was attributed to Swift’s concerts at Murrayfield and the Royal Highland
