Major Scottish football broadcast change revealed with 25 more games shown live

THERE will be even MORE live Scottish football action coming to your screens this season.

With more Scottish Premiership matches to be shown live than ever before, it’s now been revealed that even more games from another competition will be broadcast.

Up to EIGHTY Premiership matches will be shown live across Sky Sports and Premier Sports this coming season.

But before league business gets underway, the Premier Sports Cup gets off and running a week on Saturday.

And the broadcaster has revealed it will show an extra TWENTY-FIVE group stage matches from the competition.

Alongside their regular TV picks, Premier will show the additional games will live on their Premier Sports streaming service.

The extra games add to the previously announced five live TV broadcast selection from the group stages, bringing the total number of first round group stage live games up to 30.

Those five games originally selected for live televised coverage will still be shown as planned.

Aberdeen‘s trip to Queen of the South will be shown live on TV at 5.15pm on Saturday, July 13.

That will now be preceded by SEVEN live streamed matches in the 3pm kick-off slot, including Hibs‘ clash with Elgin and Dundee’s trip to Bonnyrigg Rose.

The development is the latest in what’s been a sea of change in the Scottish football broadcasting landscape.

Scottish Premiership fixtures 2024/25 revealed

Sky Sports’ new five-year deal has kicked into gear with up to 60 Premiership games being shown this season.

And Premier Sports joined the Premiership party, acquiring the rights to 20 matches.

This means viewers could be watching up to EIGHTY Scottish Premiership matches this season, the most ever.

The fixtures for the 2024/25 SPFL season were revealed last week, with a bumper opening weekend to look forward to.

Rangers head to Tynecastle to face Hearts in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, August 4.

Champions Celtic start their campaign at home to Kilmarnock a day after, kicking-off at 4.30pm following a mouth-watering Dundee derby clash.
