Growing Scots Dental Group Secures First Urban Base – Scottish Business News

One of Scotland’s fastest-growing independent dental groups has acquired its first urban base, securing planning permission for a 5-surgery practice in Perth.

Infinityblu Dental Care and Implant Clinic, established by a former Scottish Young Dentist of the Year, Chris Barrowman, in Pitlochry in 2007, now has 12 practices nationwide following steady expansion.

The new Perth practice will represent the award-winning group’s first foray into a city location, with growth to date focusing on rural communities and towns.

Infinityblu purchased the period property, 64 Tay Street, some time ago but the project has met delays due to work on Perth’s new £107m super sewer, which has closed sections of Tay Street to traffic for many months.

However, building warrants have been granted and work will get underway on a complete refurbishment of the ground floor building on the city’s elegant riverfront, as soon as access issues permit.

It is thought that the refurbishment work will take around 6 months, with the practice opening in early 2025.

Despite patients nationwide experiencing problems accessing NHS dentistry, Infinityblu has opened a waiting list for registrations in Perth under an NHS, Private or Plan basis.

Once open, the Fair City practice will represent a significant milestone for the group, which has not ruled out further urban sites as it continues to grow.

“This will be our first city location. We have tended to focus on rural communities so far but we are aware of the big demand for dental services in Perth, and the surrounding areas,” said Infinityblu owner, Chris Barrowman.

“The transport links around Perth are excellent.

“We looked for a sizable property in a nice location with good accessibility and outside parking and it will be great to see the long-awaited project getting going, despite the delays.

“We will open for NHS and private patients as well as providing a referral service and delivering orthodontics and implants.”

The property, formerly a fitness and therapy suite, is nearly 2500 sq ft in size and will accommodate a 5 surgery practice with consultation and CBCT imaging rooms.

Infinityblu has bucked challenging dentistry sector recruitment trends by employing nearly 20 new dentists within the past 18 months.

Its other locations are in Perthshire, Fife, Stirlingshire and the Scottish Borders.
