Australia to tour Scotland for a three-match T20I series in September | ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, 2024

The Australian Men’s cricket team will tour Scotland for the first time in 11 years for a three-match T20I series ahead of their five-match ODI series against England. Australia and Scotland will lock horns against each other on September 4, 6, and 7, respectively, in Edinburgh. 

The decision came just before the two teams’ T20 World Cup Group B fixture in St Lucia, where Cricket Scotland CEO Trudy Lindblade met Cricket Australia chief Nick Hockley. 

“We are delighted to announce these fixtures, which will be a great way to finish off what has been a momentous summer for Scottish cricket. Our women’s team qualified for their first ever ICC Women’s T20 World Cup later this year, while our men’s team have done the nation proud during their current ICC Men’s T20 World Cup campaign,” Trudy Lindblade, Cricket Scotland Chief Executive, said.

“We have a men’s ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 home series to look forward to in July, followed by the U19 Women’s World Cup Europe Qualifier in August, and to then have the reigning men’s ODI and Test champions and No.2 ranked T20I nation visit us in Scotland is something we should celebrate. We hope everyone who supports Scottish cricket will help us fill The Grange in Edinburgh for the three matches, united as a community in our passion for the game of cricket.”

Despite Scotland’s impressive performances in the associate circuit over the year, they have played Australia only five times across formats – out of which only twice have they played against each other outside of World Cups.

It has been fantastic to see the development of the Scotland teams, both during the current ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and their qualification for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in October.

“It is a strategic priority of Australian Cricket to support the growth of cricket around the world and I’m sure this series will help create even more interest in the game at all levels in Scotland.”
