England vs Scotland: How to watch T20 World Cup match and predicted teams
England’s T20 World Cup defence will begin against Scotland in Barbados on Tuesday afternoon.
Jos Buttler’s side have struggled for form in the eighteen months since the 2022 tournament in Australia, while the disastrous ODI World Cup in India last October and November has also raised concerns.
But two strong pre-tournament showings against Pakistan have reminded fans what this England side are capable of, bolstered by Jofra Archer’s return to fitness.
They have been placed in a relatively kind group for the first round of the tournament, alongside Australia, Oman, Scotland and Namibia.
Here is everything you need to know ahead of England’s first game of the 2024 World Cup.
How to watch England vs Scotland
All England’s games throughout this World Cup will be available to watch on Sky Sports Cricket, Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Action.
They will also be available through SkyGO and NOW TV, which is running a subscription offer for £26 per month for the next six months.
Every game of the tournament will also be available on these streaming platforms and Sky Sports Cricket.
England vs Scotland team news
England have a full strength line-up available for their first match, meaning the biggest questions are around rotation and how much to use each player in the group stage.
Mark Wood and Archer are both fit but unlikely to be utilised together in the groups, bar Saturday’s Australia clash.
This leaves Reece Topley and Chris Jordan likely to start against Scotland alongside one of the two express pacemen, with Adil Rashid the sole full-time spinner.
Meanwhile, the batting line-up is unlikely to change much through the tournament, with Buttler opening alongside Barbados-born Phil Salt.
Will Jacks, Jonny Bairstow and Harry Brook will make up the rest of the batting corps, with all-rounders Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone tying the team together.
Scotland should not pose England too great a threat in this tie but Buttler will still be wary, scarred by the rain-stricken defeat to Ireland in 2022.
The two nations have never previously met in a T20I.
