Police are appealing for information after a business in Inverness was broken into on Tuesday, 28 May, 2024.

Around 2.20am, a man forced entry to Inverness Crazy Golf on Bught Road. He stole a three-figure sum of cash.

The suspect has been described as white, around 5ft 6ins in height and of large build. He was wearing a grey tracksuit and a face covering.

Detective sergeant Joanna Macleod said: “Our enquiries are continuing and we have been gathering CCTV footage from in and around the area.

“I would urge anyone with information that may assist our enquiry to please contact us. I’d also ask anyone who was in the area early on Tuesday morning who has dashcam or any personal footage to please review it and get in touch if it holds anything that may be relevant.”

Proprietor Gus MacDonald added: “This was a brazen and very determined theft, because the very loud alarm was activated and although we had the charity box bolted to the counter, he managed to prise the lid open.

“Thankfully our charity box gets emptied of notes every evening so he only got about £20 in coins from there. We will personally replace that ourselves.

“However he got the till float of about £120.

“We are appalled and raging. If anyone has any info please get in touch.”

Mr MacDonald, who has run the business for eight years, said the charity box was for contributions towards the “Golfathon” he is doing later this summer – playing crazy golf for 24 hours.

He added: “It’s to raise money for 24 charities and I’ve invited local teams to donate £100 become involved by helping me out by playing for an hour during my effort.”

If anyone has any information, they have been urged to pass it over to officers through 101 quoting reference number 0721 of 28 May. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
