Abrdn sells European private equity division in £100m deal

Abrdn is to use capital from the sale of its European private equity division in its core investment businesses

1. Abrdn has completed the sale of its European private equity business for up to £100 million.
The Scottish group is selling the division, which has £7.4 billion of assets under management, to Patria Investments, which is listed on the Nasdaq exchange in the United States.
Abrdn plans to use the capital from the deal in its core investment businesses.
The transaction was first announced in October 2023 but all regulatory approvals have now been concluded.
René Buehlmann, chief executive for investments at Abrdn, said that the agreement “marks another step forward in our efforts to reshape and simplify our investments business”.
