James Forrest Responds To Scotland Call-up Suggestions | Latest Celtic News
Celtic winger James Forrest came up trumps for his side at Dens Park on Sunday, bagging a brace to ensure all three points came back to Parkhead.
It was a crucial victory at a pivotal stage of the season, and the veteran attacker more than proved his worth.
Forrest has come into the team over the past few games and shown his quality, scoring three goals of a high-calibre.
With the injury issues surrounding the Scotland national team, suggestions for the on-form Forrest to receive a call-up to go to Germany for the Euros are by no means wide of the mark.
The 32-year-old possesses a wealth of experience and in Steve Clarke’s system, he could be utilised in several positions.
Ahead of the summer, Forrest has admitted that he hasn’t booked any holidays as he seeks his first cap since the 2020 championships.
He said: [The Celtic Way] “I’ve not got a holiday booked! You never book a holiday early in this game, it’s always last minute.
“If you ask any Scottish player, you’d want to be involved. I went to the last Euros and it was a great experience from the first day of camp to the end. My last cap was at the Euros.
“I need to concentrate on what I am doing here.”
Forrest’s brace at Dens Park could eventually prove crucial and if he keeps up his form, Clarke will have a dilemma over whether to give him a place on the plane in June.
Especially if squad allowances for the Euros are increased, it would be difficult to leave out the experienced attacker based on current performances.
