It has ample gardens with lawn areas, an ornamental pond and an orchard, as well as a garden shed and driveway parking.

The property also comes with permission for a 1.5-storey, four-bedroom house in the front garden.

George Lorimer, from estate agents Rettie, who are selling the property, said: ‘It’s not off-grid but it has a very high EPC rating and is very energy efficient.

‘It is a charming old house and shows what you can do with an older house but with really modern green credentials. This has air source heating, photovoltaic panels and a Tesla Powerwall, it’s quite an awesome set up.

Tesla’s Powerwall is a device for storing electricity at night when it is cheaper, and can be either used in emergencies or to hold power from renewable energy sources.

The company’s founder Elon Musk unveiled the ‘revolutionary’ $3,000 (£1,980) battery in 2015, which he claimed can run an entire home for eight hours.

Mr Lorimer added: ‘The panels obviously provide electricity and any surplus goes into the powerwall and battery storage.

‘It also comes with planning permission to build another property in the garden. The new owners could build it themselves for multi-generational living or they can sell off the garden for someone else to build it.
