Missed the impressive show from the Scots in Antigua? Worry not. This recap has got you covered

Pratik Athavale’s brilliance at the top

The Nasik-born’s 54* off 40 deliveries was Oman’s best innings of the match. Along with Ayaan Khan (41 off 39), he took his team to 150/7, which was a decent effort for Oman.

Watt and Wheal’s economical bowling

The pitch was helpful to the batters as the day went on; however, left-arm spinner Mark Watt (1/25) and right-arm fast Brad Wheal (1/19) were absolutely spectacular with the ball. The pressure they created from one end resulted in wickets from the other.

Munsey munches Oman

George Munsey (41 off 20) batted in all his glory and gave Scotland a great start at the top with all his reverse sweeps and scoops. When he got out in the eighth over, Scotland were 86/2, with the win just a decent partnership away.

Omani spinners fail

Shakeel Ahmad (0/23 in two overs), Aqib Ilyas (1/41 in three overs), and Zeeshan Maqsood (0/22 in two overs) — all the three main spinners of Oman were poor and couldn’t stop the flow of incessant flow of runs from Scottish batters. That allowed them to chase 151 in just 69 deliveries.

Brandon McMullen’s scintillating knock

McMullen scored 61* off just 31 deliveries and easily took Scotland home, scoring 48 of his 61 runs in boundaries. He exemplified Scotland’s attacking approach with the bat that has established them at the top of Group B, jeopardising the Super Eight qualification of defending champions England.
