£150m redevelopment of Hunterston marine yard gets green light

1. Ambitious £150 million plans to turn a former coal terminal into an offshore wind and renewable energy hub have been approved.
Peel Ports Clydeport wants to transform 350 acres at the Hunterston marine yard in Ayrshire.
North Ayrshire council has now granted planning permission, meaning the redevelopment can begin.
The work, including a new quay wall and changes to the dry dock, is expected to begin in early 2025 and take about two years to complete.
There is already substantial interest from companies in locating operations at Hunterston.
